On Sat., Aug. 15, J.Cole came out to Bally’s flagship store at Phipps Plaza in Atlanta to unveil his boot, the “JC Hiker” and limited edition backpacks. The Grammy-nominated rapper, producer and head of Dreamville Records visited the store for a cocktail party/meet-and-greet prior to his headlining performance at Lakewood Amphitheater later that evening.
The “JC Hiker” is a stylish yet aggressive boot with gripping arch support and metal across the body that comes in seven colors. The boots also comes in leather, suede and even python skin. The hip-hop artist and Roc Nation signee out of Fayettville, NC behind the gold albums Cole World: The Sideline Story, Born Sinner and the platinum-certified 2014 Forest Hills Drive was rocking the dark green-colored shoe when he stopped by the store for photo opps.
J.Cole, famous for tracks like “Be Free” and “Power Trip,” was inspired to create the limited edition boot after visiting Bally’s London offices. He flipped through photo archives and ran across a black-and-white image of music legend Bob Marley wearing a similar pair of boots. That moment allowed J.Cole to also consider taking a brief trip to recalibrate.
Bally and J.Cole also created a five-minute short, Off the Grid, that chronicles the rapper visiting Jamaica and unplugging from his fame and technology. Suggested retail price for “JC Hiker” is at $695.
