Last night I had a chance to attend the Atlanta advanced screening of Ice-T’s new hip hop documentary called “The Art Of Rap – Something To Nothing. The private screening was hosted by Troy Allen Marshall and The Omen Agency and was put together by Ice -T to give Atlanta’s tastemakers a preview up the film. The movie, which is Ice-T’s first directorial debut, goes beyond the glitz and glamour of stardom to explore what goes on in the mind of some of the biggest names in Hip Hop.  The thing I liked the most about the movie was being able to see the best of the best in Hip Hop share their perspectives on rap and what it takes to be a great emcee.  Some of the Artist featured in the film include Big Daddy Kane, B-Real, Bun B, Chino XL, Chuck D, Common, DJ Premier, DMC, Doug E. Fresh, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Grandmaster Caz, Ice Cube, Immortal Technique, Joe Budden, Kanye West, Kool Keith, Kool Moe Dee, KRS-One, Lord Finesse, Lord Jamar, Marley Marl, MC Lyte, Melle Mel, Nas, Q-Tip, Raekwon, Rakim, Ras Kass, Redman, Snoop Dogg, and WC. Make sure you go check out the movie when it hits theaters on June 15, 2012.

Recently I got a chance to test drive the fresh new 2012 Lincoln MKX.  The Lincoln MKX is a midsize luxury cross over SUV thats  powered by a 305-hp 3.7 liter V6 engine and comes in front or four wheel drive.  The vehicle comes with standard safety features such as four wheel anti-lock brakes, air bags, tire pressure monitoring and blind spot alert just to name a few. All luxury features such as the dual climate control, heated and cooled front seats, remote start and the MyLincold Touch driver connect system all come standard on the the new MKX. The Lincoln MKX retails for  $39,545 and gets 19/ mpg city and  26/ hwy. This Vehicle is perfect for DJ”s because it has folding seats and enough room to haul equipment around in.  Big shout out to the people over at Lincoln for inviting me out to test drive the 2012 MKX. Hopefully they will give me a brand new one next year…LOL!!!

Sorry for the inactivity, I know it looks like I been slacking but I have actually been working hard living up to the name “Atlanta’s Hardest Working DJ”.   The first part of the year has been crazy for me and now things are starting to get back to normal. Stay tuned!!!

Fonzworth Bentley & Grammy Award winning violinist Miri Ben-Ari both performed at the grand opening of the new high end luxury boutique Gregory’s, located at Lenox Square mall.  The grand opening was also a launch party for Fonzworth Bentley’s new shoe line sold exclusively at Gregory’s.  The event brought out a very diverse crowd that enjoyed food, drinks and special performances. Proceeds from the event were donated to the United Negro College Fund and The NSORO Foundation.

Today marks the beginning of Black History Month, which by the way is celebrating its 36th year in existence. Black History month was started back in 1926 as Negro History week by Carter G. Woodson. It was used to educate and instill a sense of pride in African Americans. The same can be said about my mixtape “African American History For Dummies”. The Mixtape was released in conjunction with the book entitled “African American History For Dummies” by author Ronda Racha Penrice. Every song featured on the project explores the black experience in America from a Hip Hop point of view.  The intro to the mixtape is done by Michael Eric Dyson and it features music by Dead Prez, Talib Kweli, Common, Mos Def, Goodie Mob, Arrested Development, Public Enemy and many more. Last Saturday (Jan 21, 2012) I got a chance to DJ the official video release party for Zoe Myers.  The exclusive event was held over at 56 East Andrews in Buckhead.  At the party Zoe premiered her new video “Destiny Knows My Name” and she also celebrated her 25th birthday with her family and celebrity friends.  I had a great time rocking out the tunes at this event.  Check out some pics from the event below:

Last night (Tuesday January 25, 2012) Atlanta based hip hop artist Waka Flocka Flame and SEA Brand Clothing company launched a custom Brick Squad Monopoly snapback hat to support Waka Flocka’s new anti-bullying campaign. The launch party was held at Wish Boutique in Little 5 points to help raise awareness to the plague of children being bullied in schools across the country.  Waka, who allowed his fans to choose a cause for him to support through his #wakanewyear initiative, will donate 25 percent of all sales from the custom hat to The Pacer’s National Bullying Prevention Center.

Serato and Rane recently unveiled the Rane Sixty One & The Rane Sixty Two for Serato Scratch Live. The two mixers were unveiled last week at the NAMM show and will be available in February of 2012.  The highly anticipated DJ mixers are great additions to the Rane mixer line and are designed to integrate performer, hardware and software.  I think Im gonna roll with the Sixty Two because the Sixty One doesnt have XLR Outputs but either way both mixers look pretty dope.  Cant wait for them to drop!!!
